Warren Benjamin Chapman, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, December 13, 2018.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Bruce Gwyn. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Gardens. Military graveside rites will be provided by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The Chapman family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 on Saturday, December 15 at the Lighthouse at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 1260 College St, Mount Pleasant.
Mr. Chapman was born October 9, 1943 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Rowland Otis Chapman and Annalene Oxford Chapman. Warren was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where he formerly served as caretaker of the church property. He worked with the USPS as a mail carrier for 27 years and then as a courier for Carolinas Healthcare Systems. Warren also spent time working as a tour bus driver and a photographer. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Warren continued to serve his community during the past 8 years on the Planning and Zoning Committee and was then elected to the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Greene Chapman, three sons, Randall Chapman (Beth), David Chapman, and Isaac Chapman; two daughters, LeAnne Weast (Toby) and Lori Johnson (Ben); five grandchildren, Madison, Mallory, Tyler, Chloe, and Riley.
