William (Bill) White, formerly of Mount Pleasant, NC and resident of The Haven Memory Care Center, Huntersville passed away peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, following several years of declining health.
Born May 14, 1932, Bill grew up on a farm in lower Cabarrus County and was the son of the late Roby S. White and Dessie Layton White. As a young teen, he met, and later married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine James White, who preceded him in death December, 2014. The two were married for 64 years.
After a brief tour in the US Army, the couple settled in Mount Pleasant, where they built a life together and raised their family. A hard worker, and family provider, Bill worked for Randolph Mills, Western Electric, Allison Erwin, and lastly, worked his favorite job of all as a groundskeeper at Thompson’s Children’s Home. Bill also enjoyed life on his small farm where he dabbled in tending bees, raising cows, horses, goats, chickens, and even at one-point, chinchillas.
Prior to his illness, Bill was an active member with his church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He also worked with the Royal Ambassadors mission’s organization at the church when his children were younger. During his retirement years, Bill and Geraldine enjoyed camping and cherished time spent with their grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey White and Timothy White. He also leaves his legacy with his six grandchildren, Stephanie, Dawn, Justin, Isaac, Joshua, and John-William, and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Aidan.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd from 10 to 12 at Gordon Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the staff and team members at The Haven Memory Center for the love and care given to him over the past four years. Memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Associate at act.alz.org.
