Vera Wheeler

Mrs. Vera Sutton Wheeler, 93 of Concord, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at her residence. Memorial service will be 3:00pm Sunday, Nov. 30, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Bruce Gwyn. Mrs. Wheeler was born June 2, 1921 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late James W. Sutton, Sr. and Loma Blackwelder Sutton. She was a life member of Roberta United Methodist Church. She enjoyed helping with Girl Scouts summer camps while living in Paris, TN, she also helped with Daisy Scouts at St. John's in Concord. She was a avid gardener and bird watcher. She was a US Navy Hospital Corp. veteran serving during WWII. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Wheeler, brother and sisters, Frances Penninger, Jimmy Sutton, Jr., Christine Bates, Clara "Boots" Robinson, and Willene Edwards. She is survived by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Wheeler, son Jerry Wheeler of CA, sister, Elizabeth Baucom of Concord, grandson, James Wheeler of CA. Memorials may be made to Mt.
