Thomas Newton Menig, age 84, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Tucker Hospice House.
Mr. Menig was born September 13, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Thomas and Bessie Newton Menig. He was retired from IBM as a mechanical engineer and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Menig found many hobbies after he retired from IBM to fill his time including restoring and showing classic cars and building prize-winning dollhouses and miniatures. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas C. Menig.
He is survived by his wife, June Menig, two daughters, Kari (Douglas) Hayden, Debbi Menig, and son Allen Menig; in addition to several grandchildren and great grandchildren and his beloved cats Bonnie, Dino, Bob, Charley and Max.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Tucker Hospice House for their care of Thomas's during his declining health.
Visitation will be Sunday Nov. 29 from 2-3pm, followed by a 3:00pm memorial service at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
