Sue Foil Walker was born March 5, 1939 to Horace Elwood Foil, Sr and Elizabeth Caudle Foil in Mount Pleasant, NC. Mrs. Walker died at Concord Place in Concord, NC on April 24th, 2024 at age 85. Sue was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Mogan Lester Walker on March 6, 2022.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Walker is survived by her dear brother, Horace Elwood Foil, Jr. of Mount Pleasant, NC. Also surviving are her two sons Mark Walker and wife Cammie of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and John Walker and wife Tonya of Cumming, GA and three precious grandchildren, Rachel Walker, Lindsay Walker and Brady Walker.
Sue was born in Charlotte and raised in Mount Pleasant, NC and resided there until 1967. Her family moved to Charlotte, NC and lived there until Sue and Morgan returned to their childhood community of Mount Pleasant, NC in 2008.
Mrs. Walker was a 1957 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Pfeiffer College in 1960, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education. An educator for 30 years, she taught primary education. She retired in 1994 after teaching 2nd grade at Idlewood Elementary School in Charlotte, NC.
Sue loved her family. She enjoyed watching her two sons play baseball. They also worked on puzzles together. She also spent time with her three grandchildren in Georgia and made a lasting and loving impression on the children. Each one had a special relationship with their Grandmother that they will treasure.
Sue and Morgan were members of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte, but rejoined Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Concord in 2008 after moving back to Mount Pleasant. Both were avid gardeners for over 50 years, each summer many in the community enjoyed the fruits of their labor. Sue enjoyed canning half runner green beans, as well as watching her heirloom tomatoes grow in her smaller garden near the house. She loved to cook, and she loved singing in the church choir for many years.
On May 25, 2024, Mrs. Walker’s visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with services following at 2:30 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Concord, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hope by Design, (hopebydesignga.org), a non-profit furniture ministry founded by Mrs. Walker’s daughter-in-law, Tonya Walker, Saint John’s Lutheran Church (Concord) or Hospice & Palliative Care (Kannapolis), in her honor and memory.
