Sarah ‘YahYah’ Sisk, 40, of Concord, went home on March 13, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a most epic battle with metastatic triple negative breast cancer.
Celebration of life service will be Saturday, March 25th at 3pm at the Community Church of Mt. Pleasant with Pastor David Snow officiating.
The second of five daughters, she was born on July 21,1982, to David Dolezal and Laura ‘Jeannie’ Brown in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1995, they moved to Concord, North Carolina.
Family was the most important thing to Sarah, second only to God. Being a mother was her greatest earthly joy and her sisters were her best friends. She loved crafting, cookouts, the beach, and honoring our family traditions over the years. Sarah was a decorated tennis player, an avid race fan, and a friend to all she met. She earned her associates degree in early childhood education. She worked as a teacher, assistant director and director in the field for many years. Teaching children was her passion. She was an active member of her church. She walked through life with an unshakeable faith and trusted God all of her days.
She married Robert Sisk in 2004. Sarah was a devoted and supportive wife. They had two amazing daughters, Nicole and Lillie. Sarah cherished her girls. When Nicole and Lillie became active in the equestrian world, Sarah quickly became a barn mom for them and a second mom to many more.
Outside of education, Sarah worked for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and was a huge supporter of law enforcement officials. Sarah spent the last 9 years working at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Charlotte. In her spare time, she loved makeup and skin care. She spent many years as a Mary-Kay consultant and did makeup for countless events. She wanted everyone to see their beauty.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Robert, her two daughters, Nicole and Lillie, father, David (Ronda Whittaker) Dolezal, mother, Laura Brown, her sisters, Amy (Adam) Hillard, Trudi (Dustin) Wiser, Apryl Culp, Emily (Cameron) Felts, Heather Whittaker, Jessica Whittaker, aunts, Linda (Paul) Schuette, Brenda (Gary) Hemstreet, Diane Dolezal, and uncle, Cody Brown, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Joanna Brown and Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Dolezal, her grandfathers, Russ Underhill and Luke Dolezal, her aunt, Jo Ellen Dempsey, her father-in-law, William Sisk Sr, her best friend, Dani Morgan, and her dog, Tink.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Sarah, to the Go Jen Go Foundation, 7804 Fairview Rd, #217 Charlotte, NC 28226.
