Robert Waddell

Robert Harrison "Buck" "Pop" Waddell, Sr. 83 of St. John's Church Rd., Concord, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at CMC-Northeast. Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Waddell family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Waddell was born August 12, 1927 in Cabarrus County son of the late Guilford T. Waddell, Sr. and Ida Lee Benfield Waddell. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was a very active member serving as an usher, communion assistant and grounds maintenance. He worked for the Cabarrus County Schools maintenance department and after his retirement he enjoyed working at Safrit's Nursery. He was always working on a honey dew list. He served in the National Guard from 1948-1959. He was preceded in death by a brother Guilford T. Waddell, Jr., sister, Mable Sears, Ruth Frieze, Edna Hockaday and Elizabeth Goodman. He is survived by his wife Margie Sikes Waddell, son Robert "Buck" Waddell, Jr., daughter, Joy Lynn Waddell, grandchildren, Tiffany Hammrick, April Evans, James Rice, Sarah Waddell, Shana Dean and eight great grandchildren Memorial may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 St. John's Church Rd., Concord, NC 28025
