Robert Lee Flowe born March 12, 1924 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina gave up his earthly home for his Heavenly Home on February 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at CMC Northeast Medical Center in Concord, North Carolina.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm at Gordon Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday February 24, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Gold Hill, North Carolina. Pastors Anthony Moore and Charles Efird will officiate the service with burial following in the church cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Cabarrus County he was the son of the late Mary Barnhardt and the late Theodore Cedell Flowe. He was preceded in death by wife Nola Hatley Flowe, Son In Law Roy Lee Coley, Sister Lena Flowe Hathcock and Brothers In Law Cletus and Eddie Hatley. Robert grew up and worked on the family farm until he was called into service by his country in World War II. He proudly served in the Army, in Company B of the 225 Infantry 63rd Division. Robert served our country during the European Campaign, where he received numerous medals for his service including Two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He married his late wife Nola Hatley Flowe in 1947 and the couple had 55 wonderful years together. Robert was the owner and operator of Flowe's Amaco Service Station, and was later employed by Morrison Mill Work from where he retired in 1987. He also ran a family farm. He was a man that enjoyed hard work and the value of his family. After retiring in 1987 he and his wife Nola moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where they spent 16 wonderful years together. There they enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Robert is survived in death by his daughter Sylvia Flowe Coley with whom he resided. His grandchildren, grandson Michael Coley and wife Christina Efird Coley, granddaughter Melissa Coley Swinson and husband Aaron Swinson of Mount Pleasant. His four great grandchildren that he loved and was so proud of: Jacob Coley, Jordan Coley, Elisabeth Swinson and Emma Grace Swinson. Brother Ralph Flowe of Concord
