Robert (Robby) DeBerry Barringer, born on March 3, 1948, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, passed away at his residence on December 4, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was a devoted educator, community leader, and family man whose impact on those around him will be fondly remembered.
Robby dedicated a remarkable 44 years to the field of education, beginning his career at Central Cabarrus High School where he taught from 1970 to 1982. He then transitioned to Mount Pleasant Middle School, instructing students in mathematics, English, social studies, and physical education. He also instructed students across Cabarrus County in Driver Education. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as he was also a passionate coach, guiding girls’ varsity basketball, girls’ softball and boy’s tennis teams, along with assisting in both varsity and junior varsity football programs. One of his proudest achievements was winning the Rocky River Conference Girls' Basketball Tournament, a testament to his dedication and skill as a coach.
In addition to his academic and coaching contributions, Robby played a crucial role in organizing Little League sports within the Mount Pleasant community. His leadership and enthusiasm were instrumental in shaping the youth sports landscape of today, and he spent many years coaching Babe Ruth Baseball in Mt. Pleasant.
Robby's educational journey began at Mount Pleasant High School and Pfeiffer University, from which he graduated, and he continued to be a proud alumnus throughout his life. He was a lifelong North Carolina Tarheels fan. He was also a lifelong member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, serving as Sunday school teacher and church council member and in many other capacities throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Sharon Culp Barringer; son Ryan Barringer and his wife Katrina; daughter Shanda Barringer Apple; brother Archie Barringer II and his wife Delores; nephews Mark and Duncan (Lee) Barringer; and grandchildren Nolan and Knox Barringer, Bryleigh Apple, and Gunur and Mavrik Ross. Robby was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Archibald "Archie" Barringer and Mary Evans Foil Barringer.
The services to honor Robby’s life will include a visitation with family at Gordon Funeral Home on January 5, 2025, from 2:00-3:30pm, followed by a funeral service at Lutheran Church Of The Holy Trinity, 1500 S. Main St, Mt. Pleasant, at 4:00pm.

Robby leaves behind a legacy of dedication, community service, and love that will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him. His enduring spirit will be missed, but never forgotten.
