Richard Wayne Sifford

Richard Wayne Sifford, Sr., 76, of Rockwell passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Atrium Health-Northeast.

Funeral services will be 2pm Friday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, burial will follow in the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. The Sifford family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm prior to the service.

Wayne was born on March 30,1942 in Cabarrus County to the late Gilmer Lewis Sifford and Eleanor Swinson Sifford. Wayne was a Mount Pleasant High School graduate. He worked in construction for many years. He also enjoyed keeping a garden, the outdoors especially fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Ann Priester Sifford who died December 30, 2010

Wayne is survived by his children; Wayne Sifford, Jr and wife Laura, of Charlotte, Mark Sifford of Tampa FL and Brian Sifford and wife Kelly of Rockwell and Dawn Simpson and husband Monty of Rockwell; step-children, Sandy Deaton, Timmy Deaton and wife Trinity, Michael Deaton and wife Brandy, Richard Deaton and wife Melissa, all of Rockwell; former daughter-in-law Patricia Sifford; grandchildren, Chris, Alyssa, Jake, Hanna, Tanner, Emma, Sean, Kaelin, Nathan, Evan, Owen, Ryan, Mairin, Adam, Raylen and Kinslee.
