Rhonda Mechelle Allmon

Rhonda Mechelle Hough Allmon, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Atrium Health-Northeast after a 9-year battle with cancer.

The Allmon family will receive friends beginning at 2p.m., Sunday, July 28, at Gordon Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A service of remembrance will begin at 3:30p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Blake McLain and the Rev. Donnie Burleyson officiating. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens in Concord. 

A Cabarrus County native, Rhonda was born August 10, 1954, to the late Worth Hough and Janie “Dan” Hathcock Hough. She was predeceased by sister Gwen H. Ennis and brother Reggie Hough.

Rhonda was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and later received an Associate Degree from RCCC after returning to school upon retirement from Phillip Morris. She enjoyed traveling, painting and holiday gatherings with family, especially at Halloween and Christmas. She loved animals especially her cats Butter, Cotton and Judy, and her two grand-dogs, Sawyer and Bindi. Rhonda will be remembered for her courageous attitude during her time of illness.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Danny Joe Allmon; son Drake Allmon (Brooke); Daughter, Dr. Amber A. Harris (Rodney); Brother Brian Hough, Sister Kelly H. Cain (Mark); special nieces, Candy Clontz (Willie) and Brooke Overcash (Bradley). She will affectionately be remembered as “Nona” to Chase, Christen, Sethna, Broc and her grandson Bear. Rhonda’s family would also like to recognize her special friend Sheila Allmon, who is owed heartfelt thanks for her friendship and compassionate care and Dr. Stephen Causey.
