Opal McLester Horton

Opal McLester McDonald Horton, 93, of Concord passed away peacefully at her home, Monday July 15, 2024. 

Funeral services will be held 3pm Thursday July 18, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial will follow at Miami Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Opal was born in Cabarrus County December 25, 1930 to the late Otto and Novella Rushing McLester. She was a member of Miami Baptist Church. For many years, she worked at Sears as a salesperson. She loved to work in her yard especially with her many beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed sewing and making things. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Buford McDonald and second husband Ray Horton. 

She is survived by her son William Jeffery McDonald and his wife Cathy; daughter Kathy Proctor; grandsons Danny McDonald and his wife Brittany and Cory Proctor; and a great grandson Danny “DJ” McDonald Jr.
