Mildred Frances Kluttz Culp, 93, of Gold Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
A celebration of Mildred’s life will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 3335 Bethlehem Church Road, in Gold Hill, where she had been a member since 1946. The Rev. Beverly Mauldin and the Rev. Ric Durham will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Culp family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall beginning at 2 p.m.
A Cabarrus County native, Mildred was born March 9, 1924, to Frank Martin Kluttz, Sr., and Mable Safrit Kluttz. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Osco Sylvester (O.S.) Culp, Jr., who passed away Dec. 31, 2015.
For more than 50 years, Mildred served as organist for Bethlehem UMC and was honored for her service there. She was a homemaker extraordinaire and a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A long-time member of the Home Demonstration Club sponsored by the Cabarrus County Extension Service, Mildred was a prolific quilter and met with her quilting group once or twice a week as long as her health allowed. A seamstress beyond compare, she crafted more than 15 prom dresses and designed and made wedding dresses for both of her daughters, every stitch sewn with love.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Sharon C. Barringer (Robby) and Beth C. Misenheimer (Terry); three grandchildren, Ryan Barringer (Katrina), Shanda Apple, and Brent Earnhardt (Shelly); six great-grandchildren, Nolan Barringer, Knox Barringer, Dalton Earnhardt, Bryleigh Apple, Gunur Ross, and Mavrik Ross; and her brother Frank Martin Kluttz Jr. (Doris).
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Brent Kelly of Rockwell and to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their care and compassion.
Contributions in Mildred’s memory may be directed to Bethlehem UMC’s mailing address, 535 St. Stephens Church Road, Gold Hill, NC, 28071.
