Michael Edward Little

Michael Edward Little, a devoted retired Army Lieutenant Colonel known for his unwavering commitment to service and community, peacefully passed away on June10, 2024, at the age of 83, at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC. Born in Concord, NC, Michael was the cherished son of Edward Pharo Little and Ellen Grace Penninger Little, who preceded him in death.

Growing up in Mt. Pleasant, NC, Michael's love for his hometown only deepened over the years. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and went on to pursue higher education at Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science.

Michael's dedication to his community was evident in his lifelong membership at Bethel Bear Creek Reformed Church, where he found solace and purpose among his fellow congregants.

In his illustrious military career spanning over two decades, Michael served his country with distinction, completing four tours in Vietnam. His bravery and valor were recognized with numerous decorations, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Humanitarian Services Medal.

Michael will be fondly remembered for his selflessness, courage, and unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of service and kindness that will continue to inspire generations to come.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Bethel Bear Creek Reformed Church in Mt. Pleasant, NC, on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Receiving of guests will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm, with a graveside service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association-Western Carolina Chapter, located at 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209, in honor of Michael's memory.
