Mary Dean Price

Mary Dean, “Deanie” Price, 80 of Grassy Creek, North Carolina passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 in West Jefferson following her struggles with dementia.  A private celebration of her life will be held later this spring.

A Union County native, Deanie was born March 6, 1944, the youngest daughter of Clayton Love Simpson and Mary Alice Smith Simpson.   She graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1962 and attended Wingate College.  Deanie was an experienced interior designer and also had a career in sales for a fire safety equipment company.  In the mid 1990’s she retired to her beloved mountain top home in Grassy Creek.  She thoroughly enjoyed life there with her gardens, koi pond and animal companions.   Deanie very much enjoyed traveling with family throughout the United States.  Sisters-only adventures in Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and other European countries were treasured.  

Deanie is survived by her sister, Carolyn S. Gordon of Mount Pleasant.  She was predeceased by sisters, Delores Abee and Sylvia Simpson.  Deanie was the “fun aunt” to 6 nieces who all adored her.   She taught them many good things in life, and also some jokes and songs that perhaps they should not have learned.   Deanie was so much fun and full of love.   She will be lovingly remembered by her family and many, many friends.
