Mary Margaret Kluttz

Mary Margaret Boger Kluttz, 95, of Rockwell, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at her home following a short period of declining health. A celebration of Margaret’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Boger Reformed Church where she was a life-long member. The Rev. Chad Kyler will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gordon Funeral Home, 8559 Cook Street, Mt. Pleasant. A Cabarrus County native, Margaret was born Dec. 30, 1920, to the late George Atlas Boger and Vernina Cline Boger. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, George Edgar Kluttz, Sr., who died in 2008, and by her six siblings, brothers, Otis, Ray and Charlie; and her three sisters, Edith B. Whitley Moser, Bertha Boger Kluttz and Ida Mae Boger. In her working life, Margaret was employed by Kaiser-Roth Hosiery Mill, Cannon Mills and the Mt. Pleasant school cafeteria. A talented gardener and quilter, she was passionate about those pursuits and delighted in sharing the results of her efforts with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was cooking family meals from her garden’s bounty and enjoying the fellowship of all gathered round her table. She lived her faith daily, and as long as she was able, participated in the mission work of Boger Church Women and the church’s annual Lord’s Acre Sale. Margaret is survived by a son, George Edgar “Sonny” Kluttz, Jr. (Nancy) of Rockwell; a daughter, Marilyn K. Payne (Richard) of Palmyra, VA; two grandsons, Darrell Kluttz (Tammy) and Brad Kluttz (Jamie), all of Rockwell; a granddaughter, Allison P. Holt (Kevin) of Charlottesville, VA; five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Gus, Levi and Colt Kluttz, and Bethany Holt; a special sister-in-law, Ruth K. Misenheimer of Rockwell; a brother-in-law, Arthur L. Kluttz of Mt. Pleasant; and a host of nieces and nephews in the Boger and Kluttz families. The family extends special thanks for the compassionate care provided by companions Amanda Drye and Tina Suther Condor, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, all of whom allowed Margaret to honor her wish to spend her final months in the comfort of her own home. Contributions in Margaret’s memory may be directed to Boger Reformed Church, 7313 Gold Hill Road, Concord, NC, 28025.
