Lloyd Ketner Ritchie, 80 of Bost Cut Off Rd., Concord, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at CMC-Northeast.
Funeral service will be 3:00pm Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church; burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Ritchie family will receive friends from 3-4pm Saturday afternoon at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant
Lloyd Ketner Ritchie, born on May 30, 1930, was the seventh child of thirteen born to Jesse David and Maggie Ketner Ritchie. Lloyd married Addie Sue Harwood on December 22, 1951 and left North Carolina to serve in the Air Force. His service to his country lasted 20 years, 8 months, one day. During his service tenure he was stationed at Okinawa, Eglin AFB (FL), Elmendorf AFB (Alaska), CamRahn Bay (Viet Nam), Offitt AFB (Nebraska) and back to Eglin AFB where he retired and lived until returning to Concord in 2007. At each of his stops he was very active in the Lutheran Church, but his heart remained at St. John's Lutheran and he immediately renewed his membership upon returning "home". Leading Lloyd into the Church Triumphant were his parents, two sisters, seven brothers and one granddaughter. Remaining to rejoice in Lloyd's memory are his wife, Sue, daughter, Jacquelyn Hall and her husband David, grandson Bryan and wife, Anna, great-grandchildren Ella and Madelyn, grandson Justin and wife Annie, great-grandson Aidan; daughter Reba Brown, grandson, 1Lt. Jonathan Brown and his wife Jennifer, granddaugther 2LT Jennifer Brown, granddaugther Jacki Brown; son Lloyd, Jr. and his wife Diane, granddaughter Whitney Daley and her husband Will, great-granddaughter Amelia, granddaughter Vanessa Ritchie, granddaughter Rebekah Ritchie; and daughter Meredith Warren and her husband Allen; one sister, Shelby McLester, four brothers, Claud Ritchie, Ned Ritchie, Archie Ritchie and Luther Ritchie and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
