Lena Hurlocker Hill

Mrs. Lena Hurlocker Hill, 95 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Tucker Hospice House. Funeral Service will be 3:00pm Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Tom Fleming and Rev. Faye McRorie; burial will follow at Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ Cemetery. The Hill family will receive friends from 1-3pm Sunday at the church prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Hill was born September 16, 1919 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late John Hurlocker and Eltha Hahn Hurlocker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a active member of the Prayer Shaw Ministry. She was active in the Rimer ECA/Home Extension Club, Senior Citizens Club at Bear Creek and the Mt. Pleasant Birthday Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and was a very creative writer. She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Hill, a son Hoyt Hill, brothers, Clifford and Bruner Hurlocker, sisters, Nell Earnhardt, Glenna Lingle, Mamie Moose and Merlie Goodman. She is survived by a daughter Janet Stancil, grandsons Brian Stancil and Eddie Hill and wife Poe of New Rochelle, NY and a sister Gertie Lowder and a special niece Dawn Gledhill.
