Lee William Seymour, age 68, formerly of Burlington, VT, a beloved member of our family, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2024, at Atrium Cabarrus Health in Concord, NC following a brief illness. Despite living with chronic illnesses for many years, he remained resilient and always had a positive outlook on life. Lee was born on October 25, 1955, in Burlington, VT to the late Leon and Janet Seymour. He attended John J. Flynn Elementary School, Lyman C. Hunt Middle School, and Burlington High School, graduating with the class of 1973. He was the oldest of his five siblings.
During his high school years, Lee enjoyed watching and playing sports along with performing and marching as a percussionist in the high school band. He was the north end Burlington Free Press carrier for several years. Lee also worked at a grocery store in South Burlington over 6.5 miles away from his home, which he would bike almost daily.
Lee had been employed in the past as a licensed electrician, working for various companies in Vermont and North Carolina. He enjoyed working for several years at the Mary Fletcher Hospital, now known as the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. He worked for PC Godfrey and TR Curlee Electric while in North Carolina.
Lee enjoyed working with youth boys at the rink and on the ballfields. He allocated time to work with the area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, along with refereeing youth hockey. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with one of his most memorable moments being declared the Grand Prize winner of the 1984 Lake Champlain International Fishing Derby.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed going to see the Carolina Hurricanes, Charlotte Checkers, Carolina Panthers, and racing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He watched college ice hockey and college softball along with several different crime shows with his favorite being the original NCIS. He was a passionate spicy food lover that would seek out new and interesting meals, but still enjoyed his shrimp scampi from Olive Garden.
Lee is survived by his 3 children: Lucus, Danny, and Bryan (Georgia) all of Vermont, his 5 siblings: Kathy, Mike (Ginger), Gary (Natalie), Lori, and Mark (Denise), and his 3 grandchildren: Marley, Owen, and Graham. Along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Lee can be honored with contributions to Mount Pleasant Animal Rescue, Feeding America, or the Alzheimer's Association-Western Carolina Chapter. There will be a private family graveside service to be held in the near future at Lakewood Cemetery in Vermont.
Special thanks to James Scheer, DO and Chrisopher Connelly, MD, for providing years of exemplary medical care, and to our brother, Gary Seymour, for his selfless dedication to our brother.
