Kevin Joseph Kubacki, 61, of Albemarle, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Randolph Health in Asheboro.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will begin at noon Saturday, Sept. 1, at Friendship United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Roger Armistead officiating. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will follow in the church cemetery. Kevin’s family will receive friends beginning at 10:30-11:45am at the church.
A native of Hammond, Indiana, Kevin was born May 9, 1957, to Julian and Margaret McSemek Kubacki. He was predeceased by his father and an infant grandson, Zachary Kubacki.
Kevin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family deeply and cherished time spent with them. Kevin proudly served his country for 12 years in the United States Air Force, including in Operation Desert Storm.
A Mason, Kevin was Past Master of Albemarle Lodge 703, and was active with Scottish Rite Valley of Charlotte, Monroe Chapter York Rite, and Oasis Shrine, among others.
Since 2005, Kevin had owned Dean & Associates Masonic Aprons and Supplies, enjoying his travels up and down the East Coast meeting so many brothers whom he considered his friends. More recently, Kevin followed his passion to help Masonic youth organizations grow and flourish by serving as the Masonic Youth Committee Chairman with the N.C. Grand Lodge, and as a State Executive Committee member for N.C. IORG.
Survivors left to cherish Kevin’s memory include his wife of 24 years, Beverly Furr Kubacki of the home; his mother, Margaret, of Raleigh; two daughters, Heather Kubacki-Mason of Fayetteville, and Kaitlyn Kubacki of the home; a son, Derek (Claudia) Kubacki of Stockdale, Texas; five grandchildren, Anastasia (Mikey) Clark, Jaden Kaiser, Jordan Mason and Julian Kubacki, all of Texas, and Nicole Mason of Fayetteville; and one great-granddaughter, Alina Clark of Texas; brothers, Kenn (Pam) Kubacki of Raleigh, Terry (Char) and Tom Enloe of Indiana, and multiple nieces and nephews, as well as multiple generations of the Furr family.
Memorials may be directed to the Kevin J. Kubacki Memorial Scholarship Fund for Masonic Youth and may be delivered or mailed to any Wells Fargo branch or mailed to 206 Royal Ave., Albemarle, NC, 28001.
