Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Buckwell, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Atrium Health Main, Charlotte, following a weeks-long serious illness.
Kenny’s life will be celebrated beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the church he attended, Concord Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. David Seymour and the Rev. Harold Davis officiating. The Buckwell family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon. Following the service, the Rev. Patrick McCabe will lead the graveside service at the family plot in the Bethel Bear Creek Reformed Church cemetery.
A Cabarrus County native, Kenny was born June 14, 1968, to Jimmy and Cynthia Worrell Buckwell. A 1986 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a 1990 graduate of Catawba College, Kenny was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed a 30-year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and was a supervisor at the time of his death. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and played on a three-time championship team. He also liked fishing at the coast and was a loyal Duke basketball fan. His work ethic in high school and college led him to Cline’s Antiques where he enjoyed learning about antiques and all aspects of the businesses of collecting and selling them.
In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Shanin Hatley Buckwell of the home; a daughter, McKenna Buckwell; a son, Hunter Buckwell (Ronni); a grandson, Tucker; a brother, Doug Buckwell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
