Kathleen Smith

Kathleen Goodin Smith age 86, of Lenoir, N.C. went home to be with Her Lord on July 7, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She had currently been residing in Athens Georgia. Mrs. Smith was born on February 17, 1926, to the late Albert D. Goodin and Jettie L. Barker Goodin. She had retired from the Bank of Granite in Granite Falls N.C. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of College Avenue Baptist Church of Lenoir and enjoyed singing with the Joy Choir. Kat as she was known enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden, traveling and spending time with her granddaughters. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Steve William Smith, and her two sisters Irene Kelly and Ruth Opauski of Lenoir N.C. Mrs. Smith's survivors include her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Tim and Melinda Smith of Athens Georgia and Shawn and Susan Smith of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina, and five granddaughters. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 11th at 3:00 at College Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Brawley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park at 2017 Wilkesboro Blvd. Lenoir, N.C. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Silverleaf of Athens and Silverleaf Hospice for their care during Mrs. Smith's declining health.
