Kathleen “Kathy” Giancarli (68) of Mount Pleasant passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2022 after a brave fight against cancer.
Kathy was born April 23, 1953 and grew up in Prospect, CT, the daughter of the late Alexis and Mary Mukosey. She graduated from Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT, class of 1971. She was employed by the City of Waterbury as an administrative assistant, working at Chase, the downtown offices, WAMS, and finally at NEMS. In July of 2019 she began the next phase of her life by moving to North Carolina to spend her retirement years.
Kathy was well known for her baking skills, love of photography, and being a wonderful family member and friend. Her welcoming demeanor and caring personality made her a friend and confidante to everyone she met.
Kathy leaves behind her daughter, Lisa (Michael) Flanagan of Concord, son Michael (Lauren) Gugliotti of Newport, RI, and son David (Susan) Giancarli of Allston, MA. She also leaves her stepchildren Robert (Alicia) Giancarli, Steven (Hollie) Giancarli, Diana (Carlos) Iglesias, and Casey (Joshua) Lee as well as grandchildren Joshua, Carlos, Victoria, Alyssa, Madison, Caleb, Caitlin, Patrick, and Alex and great-granddaughter Alaina. She is survived by her sister, Marianne Starkey of Harriman, TN, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended loved ones, including her dear friend Karol Wensil.
Following Kathy’s wishes, a mass will be said in her name at St. James the Greater Catholic Church at 9:30AM on March 6, 2022 . There will be a Celebration of Life held over the summer where all of Kathy’s family and friends can gather to remember her amazing life.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy has asked that everyone consider donating to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
