Mr. John W. Munz, 82 of Charlotte, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 after a long illness.
Mr. Munz was born October 30, 1929 in Lindenhurst, NY son of the late John A. Munz and Katherine Jaeger. John was a faithful man who loved his family, country and God with all his heart. He served with pride in the US Army during the Korean War, 3rd division 15th regiment. He also served as the Commander of various veterans' organizations and as a Volunteer Fireman for many years. Upon completion of his military commitment he returned to Lindenhurst, married the love of his life and operated his own wholesale smoked fish business for 35 years. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He relocated to the Charlotte area in 1991 to be closer to his children.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 58 years Marianne, son, John R. Munz(Lena) of Goose Creek, SC, daughter, Karen Mirandi(Peter) of Harrisburg, grandchildren, John A. Munz, Jessica O'Neal(Brandon), Kayla Mirandi and Michael Mirandi, great-grandchildren, Bradley and Katherine O'Neal.
Funeral service will be 11:00am Monday, September 17, 2012 at Back Creek Presbyterian Church where he was a member, officiated by Rev. Wayne Frazier, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Munz family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at Back Creek Presbyterian Church.
