Jody Elaine Teal Furr, 58, of Norwood, NC was granted her angel wings on January 5, 2021. She was born September 24, 1962, in Cabarrus County NC, to Edward Lee and Polly Rebecca Teal. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School where she was a member of the graduating class of 1980.
She worked many years as an occupational therapist doing what she loved best and that was seeking to bring joy to everyone she met. She served in the Church both in her youth in Concord, and throughout her adult life while raising her family in Norwood. She was a devoted wife. She taught Sunday School and loved to sing in Church with her family. She took great joy singing in their ministry of a blue grass gospel music band, Highway Home, for many years. She was a blessing to her community and great servant to the elderly and sick. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother of many beautiful children that she dearly loved. She was a beloved daughter and sister. She faced many afflictions in body that she was strong and tenacious to endure. She was special and unique in many ways including an infectious smile and voice full of joy that always made you laugh and be happy.
She leaves behind a beautiful family including her mother, Polly Teal of Mt. Pleasant; son and his wife Charles Isenhour (Jamie) of Norwood; daughter Tiffany Jenkins (Levi) of New London; her former second husband James Oland Furr of Norwood; step son Tony Furr (Tonya) of Albemarle; step daughter Debbie Simmonds (David) of Norwood; brother Mike Teal of Concord; sisters Wanda Petruzzi (Frank), nephew Frankie Petruzzi of Columbus, Ohio and Becky Tamaro (Jeff), niece Rachel Suhay (Zach) of Albemarle; six grandsons, Silas Edward Dennis, Lucas Jabez Jenkins, Titus Lee Jenkins, Dusty Furr, JT Furr, Mathew Lamb; two granddaughters River Lynn Jenkins and Lisa Lamb of Albemarle; three great grandchildren Hallie Marie Eudy, Ember Rose Furr and Andrea Grismer, all of whom she loved and treasured dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Lee Teal of Mt. Pleasant; first husband Clyde David Isenhour of Monroe; paternal grandparents Elaine and Alfred Morgan of Kannapolis; maternal grandparents Aaron and Carrie Linker of Mt. Pleasant.
The family can find peace knowing she is now singing with Jesus. A celebration of life service at the grave site of her “Happy Place” at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1 o’clock Wednesday January 13, 2021, 6986 Gold Hill Road, Concord, NC where she learned to sing and worship Jesus.
