Jerry Wayne Ballard

Jerry Wayne Ballard, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 8th at his residence. 

A celebration of life service will be held 11am Friday June 21 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. The Ballard family will receive friends following the service. 

Jerry was was born on July 2, 1943 in Cabarrus County in the city of Concord, NC to the late Dewey and Fannie Scott Ballard. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Ballard Fisher, in 2012.

Jerry retired from Sunox, Inc., a privately held welding supply firm, in 1997. He was the

Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. Jerry’s main hobby was golfing, and he spent over sixty

years trying to perfect his game. In 1999, he played golf every day at Cabarrus Country Club,

and won a crystal trophy for being the Senior Club Champion.

In his younger years, he also enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife, Brenda. They

enjoyed visiting many places together such as Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, (Spain, Italy, Sweden,

United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, and France), many of the Caribbean islands,

Japan, Bermuda, Canada, and South America.

Jerry and Brenda were both lovers of Airedale Terriers. They enjoyed having five during their

marriage, and were constantly entertained by their clown-like antics.

Jerry was an exceptional man, with many talents. He was an outstanding leader of men who

provided valuable guidance and timeless wisdom to the people he was responsible for. He was

an instructor in the correct way to solve a problem or approach a customer. Jerry was an

analytical thinker, and this helped him to resolve many difficult problems. Jerry was a very

successful man both in his professional, as well as his personal life.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Brenda Kale Ballard, of the home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for

Parkinson’s Research. Jerry was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2020.
