James Edward Lanier, 85, of Rockwell passed away, Thursday May 13, 2021 at Tucker Hospice House.
A Graveside service will be 2pm Saturday May 22 at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, officiated by Tim Brisson. The Lanier family will receive friends Friday May 21 from 4-7 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Lanier was born, March 20, 1936 in Madison County Alabama to the late Street and Anner Davis Lanier. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked many years for IBM as a new product engineer and developer. He was a fan of all sports, but he was most passionate about Alabama football. He also liked to travel and go on adventures with his family, camping, hiking and fishing. He also like working on cars and being outside working in his garden or doing yard work. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Gaynell Parker Lanier in 2006.
He is survived by daughters, Lynn L. Brisson (Tim), Shanda L. Archer (Ray) and Anissa L. Sanders (Chris); grandchildren, Shane Hooks, Drew Stewart, Blake Hooks, Blain Hooks, Kayla Sanders, Lane Stewart, Travis Brisson and Jamie Brisson; great grandchild Ryder Hooks.
