Helen Smith Allen, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away on September 30, 2024 at the age of 91. Born on November 17, 1932, daughter of the late Robert Smith and Helen Misenheimer Smith. Helen led a life of service and creativity, making lasting contributions as a nurse and later as an interior designer.

Graveside service will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28083, officiated by Rev. Chris Wallace. 

Throughout her career, Helen demonstrated an unwavering commitment to caring for others. Her work as a nurse brought comfort and healing to many, showcasing her deep compassion and dedication to her patients. Later, she channeled her artistic abilities into a successful career in interior design, where her keen eye for aesthetics transformed countless spaces.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Helen found immense joy in her personal pursuits. She was particularly proud of her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her plants and flowers, creating a vibrant outdoor sanctuary. Helen was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. Additionally, Helen participated with the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society, contributing her time and talents to preserving the rich history of her community.

Helen found great joy in her family, leaving behind her beloved son, Johnny Allen and his wife Sarai, along with her grandchildren, James, Joshua, John, and Maria, Daniel, Joshua, and Landon; great grandchildren Nikolai, Alister, Sebastian, Polaris, Eleni, and Levi: daughter in law Sherry Allen. Helen's love for her family was boundless, and her legacy will continue through them.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard C. Allen, who she cherished deeply. Helen also joins her late sons Michael and Rickey, brothers, Robert and Jerry Smith, and sisters, Hazel Lentz, Margaret Poplin, Madelene Neal, and Frances Ritch, her grandchildren, Robert, Phillip, and Phoenix.

Helen Smith Allen will be remembered not only for her remarkable achievements but also for her warm spirit and the love she shared with those around her. Her life was one of purpose, filled with memories that will be cherished by her family and friends forever.
