Harold Moose was born June 16, 1921 in Cabarrus County to the late Arthur Farel Moose and Tena Rowland Moose. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Lucille Moose, Marjorie Rich, Lena Brown Rich, and Birdia Baker and one brother, Archie Moose. A life-long member of Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Harold was a past member of the Consistory and was a valued Trustee. Harold loved attending his boyhood church for every service until his health declined. Harold led an industrious and productive life, beginning his work career on the family farm, and he continued farming for over seventy years. Harold worked at Kerr Bleachery in Concord and at Mauney's Feed Mill in New London. He loved fox hunting, going to Field Trials with his champion hunting dogs, taking fishing trips to the beach, and watching sports, especially baseball and NASCAR. In the spring and summer, family and friends knew that fresh fruits and vegetables would be delivered from Harold. He was a generous man and loved sharing the fruits of his labors with others. He was an informed man who read the newspaper from front to back on a daily basis.
Harold was a loving husband, a wonderful father, a proud grandfather, and a special great grandfather. He looked forward to visits from family members, and his eyes lit up when the children gathered around him. Harold loved to make funny faces and do hilarious things to get a laugh from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories are his wife of 70 years, Ruth Hill Moose, sons, Leonard Moose of Odessa Texas, Benny Moose (Bonnie), Eddie Moose (Janice) of Mt. Pleasant, and a daughter, Reba Moose Zanfardino (Angelo) of Tallahassee, Florida. Harold has one surviving brother, Melvin Moose (Barbara) of Mt. Pleasant.
Harold was proud of his eight grandchildren: Bonita Moose Rowland (David), Amy Moose, Benjie Moose (Susan), Scott Moose (Crystal), Alison Moose Hylton (Ray), Cristy Falkenbach Bringger (Ryan), Connor Falkenbach (Gabriella), and Travis Moose. Harold and Ruth have ten great grandchildren: Abigal Yarbrough, Connor Rowland, Gavin Moose, Claire Rowland, Keegan Moose, Carter Rowland, Kendall Bringger, Raegan Hylton, Jackson Bringger, and Clay Hylton. Harold loved his faithful dogs, Ginger and Pepper.
The Moose Family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and extended family for their loving support, cards, visits, and meals and a sincere thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and a recent caretaker, Gwen Moore, who cared deeply for Harold.
