Glenn Peninger

Glenn Hoyle Peninger, Jr. 82, of Mt. Pleasant NC & SC, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at his residence in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 1500 S. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124, officiated by Rev. Dr. John Boyd and Rev. Donald Deal; burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Peninger family will receive friends following the committal service at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity fellowship hall. Mr. Peninger was born May 25, 1928 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Glenn H. Peninger, Sr. and Annie Walker Peninger. He was a UNC Chapel Hill Graduate.He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity and a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He formerly worked for the US Postal Service, the IRS and retired from the SBA. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth James Peninger, step daughter, Susie Lacefield of Mt. Pleasant, SC, sister, Frances Burford, of Richmond, VA, niece and nephews, Toni Walther, of VA, Al Shumate of CA and Jeff Shumate of VA.
