Glenn Richard Harwood

Glenn Richard Harwood, 79, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, August, 10, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Center in Wilmington while on a beach getaway.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will begin at 11am Monday, August 13, in the Gordon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Don Burleyson officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery. The Harwood family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am

Glenn was born February 24, 1939, to Daniel Harwood, Sr., and Bertha Burleson Harwood. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary Ruth Busbin Harwood, three brothers, Craven Harwood, Daniel Harwood, Jr., and D.B. Harwood; and two sisters, Dorothy H. Sapp and Geraldine H. Moss.

A Cabarrus County native and lifelong resident, Glenn was a retired heavy equipment mechanic. Always a happy tinkerer, Glenn also enjoyed fishing, whether in a special freshwater pond or in coast salt waters.

Glenn is survived by a special friend, Joann Scotton; two sons, Timothy Harwood, and Joseph Harwood (Belinda); a daughter, Lynda H. Dowd (Wallace); three grandchildren, Jesse Harwood, Alex Harwood and Brittany Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Parker.
