George Brantley Smith, 71 of Reed Mine Rd, Midland, traded his earthly home for his heavenly on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
Funeral service will be 2:00pm Friday at St. Stephen's Wesleyan Church, 7601 Brusharbor Rd., Concord, officiated by Rev. Gary Morris and Rev. Don Ingle; burial will follow at Center Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Men's Club of St. Stephen's will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The Smith family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Smith was born March 24, 1943 in Cabarrus County son of the late Charles Brantley Smith and Clemmie Kiser Smith. He was a member of St. Stephen's Wesleyan Church. George retired from Teledyne Alvac in Monroe after 30 years. He was also owner-operator of Smith's Barber Shop of Stanfield for 52 years. He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth D. Smith.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years, Linda Hough Smith, daughter Renee S. Buck and husband Todd, son Brian Smith and wife Sharlyn both of Concord, sister Betty S. Almond, grandchildren, Clint Buck, Devin Miller, Anthony Smith, Darbi Smith also a number of nieces and nephews and numerous friends, too many to count.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Van Fund, in care of Rev. Gary Morris, 7601 Brusharbor Rd., Concord, NC 28025
