Frances Furr Hartsell, 89, passed away on December 7, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born on April 12, 1935, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina daughter of the late Ellis Furr and Pearl Johnson Furr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, located at 8559 Cook St, Mount Pleasant, NC 28124. A funeral service to honor Frances's life will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Stephen's Wesleyan Church, located at 7601 Brusharbor Rd, Concord, NC 28025.
Frances was a proud member of St. Stephen's Wesleyan Church, where her faith was a guiding influence throughout her life. Her accomplishments were many, but none brought her greater satisfaction than being a devoted mother and grandmother. Frances had a wide range of interests that reflected her vibrant spirit and nurturing nature.
She had a particular fondness for hummingbirds and iris, which brightened her home and her heart. Her talents extended into sewing, cooking, and canning, skills she lovingly shared with family and friends. In quiet moments, she enjoyed word searches, a pastime that brought her relaxation and pleasure.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Hartsell, and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Hartsell. Additionally, Frances mourned the loss of her grandchildren, Lauren and Justin Hartsell, and her dog “Monkey” whose memories she held dear.
She is survived by her sons, Carl Allen Hartsell, Gary Hartsell, Larry Hartsell (Deloris), and Todd Hartsell (Robbie); and her daughter, Vanessa Kendall (Jack). Frances's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Melissa Brady (John), Lindsey Cragan (Clayton), Sarah Grimm (Casey), Amber Mai (Frank), Michael Simpson (Ashley), Brandon Hartsell (Tara), Courtney Peacock (John), Kaitlyn Hartsell, and Stephen Hartsell, as well as her fourteen great-grandchildren who brought her joy and pride.
