Evelyn Pless Vaughan

Evelyn Pless Vaughan 79 of Mount Pleasant, passed away at her home on Monday, May 29th, 2023 following a period of declining health.

A celebration of her life will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 2 at her church St. Stephen's Lutheran. Tim Honeycutt will lead the service assisted by Father Jim Bernacki. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 3:00pm prior to the service at the church and afterwards at the church fellowship building.

Evelyn was born in Rowan County on March 7, 1944, daughter of the late Council and Maxine Pless. Evelyn was 1962 graduate of MPHS.  She worked many years at Kayser-Roth hosiery mill. After receiving her CDL licenses, drove with her husband Joe across country on occasion. Evelyn retired from Hardees in Mt. Pleasant in 2017 after 27 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and fishing at the outer banks. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Joe Vaughan.  They were married for 55 years.

She is survived by brother Harold Pless (Elaine) and sister Norma Jean Young, daughters Sheila V. Miller (Kenneth) and Debra V. Lear (Bobby), four grandchildren Peyton Lear, Ethan Lear, Bobby Lear IV, Stephanie Wright (Michael) and 3 great grandchildren Colton Wright, Kyrie Lear, and Maddux Lear.
