Elwood Smith

Mr. Elwood "Woody" Jordan Smith, Jr. of Seneca Rd., Mt. Pleasant died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at his residence. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Saturday at Gordon Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Donald Smith, Jr. The Smith family will receive friends from 1-3pm Saturday prior to the service. Mr. Smith was born June 6, 1941 in New Hanover County, NC son of the late Elwood J. Smith, Sr. and Elizabeth Councill Smith. He was the President and Operator of Boiler Works Inc. He was a member of the Mechanics, Engineers, and Boiler Makers Association. He enjoyed racing of all kinds, NHRA, NASCAR and building race cars. He also enjoyed rock and roll music. He is survived by his wife Sharon Barringer Smith, step daughter, Stephanie Fink of Charlotte, brother, Donald Smith and wife Eunice of Wilmington, sisters, Dorothy Rivenbrak and husband George, and Susie Rivenbrak and husband Robert both of Wilmington, step grandchild, Skylar Fink.
