Dorothy Jean Lowder

Dorothy Jean Basinger Lowder, 73, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at CHS-Northeast, after a brief period of declining health.

Funeral service will be Tuesday Nov. 21, 3pm at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Allen Lefler officiating, burial will follow at Salem UMC Cemetery. The Lowder family will receive friends Monday Nov. 20th from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Dorothy Jean was born March 27th, 1944 in Stanly County to the late Alton P. Basinger and Helen Eagle Basinger. During her life she was always involved in church and served Mt. Carmel Baptist Church as pianist for many years. She was preceded in death by brothers, Alton Basinger Jr., Jerry Basinger and Hayden Basinger, a sister Hattie Basinger Davis and a son Johnny Lowder.

She is survived by a husband Tommy Lowder of the home; sons, Tommy Gene Lowder(Marisa), Tony Allen Lowder(Angel), Jimmy Alton Lowder(Angie); grandchildren Dillon Lowder, Christopher Lowder, Mylie Grace Lowder and Charity Lowder; also by a brother Robert Basinger.
