Dorothy Marie Hagler “Dot” Faggart, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at Atrium Health-Main in Charlotte, following several months of declining health.
A celebration of Dot’s life will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, January 7, at her church, Mt. Olive Lutheran in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeffrey Hoffner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Faggart family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at the church.
A Cabarrus County native, Dot was born February 5, 1935, to the late Victor M. Hagler and Ethel Mae Ritchie Hagler. She was predeceased by three brothers, George, James and Ted Hagler; her son, Fred Reece “Rab” Faggart; and her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Ned R. Faggart, who died in 2009.
In her working life, Dot was employed with Morton’s Frozen Foods, Cannon Mills and Cabarrus County Schools at the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School cafeteria. This last work-for-pay was her favorite job because she loved children and always gave and received lots and lots of hugs, making the day brighter for all involved. In her retirement, Dot spent every moment she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spoiling them with special treats they were not allowed to have at home.
Survivors left to cherish Dot’s memory are two daughters, Deborah F. Bost (Dennis) of Rockwell, and Vickie F. Carpenter (Danny) of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Chris Bost (Suzanne), Matt Bost, Amanda Furr, Aaron Carpenter (Rebeka), Jenna Carpenter Hinesley (Chris) and Taylor Carpenter; nine great-grandchildren, Jayci Bost, Shelbie Bost, Olivia Bost, Artyom Pyatin(Gavin Carpenter), Taosies Carpenter, Cole Furr, Lawson Furr, Layla Furr and Colt Hinesley; sister-in-law Frances Hagler; special nephew, David Hagler; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 9400 Gold Hill Road, Mt. Pleasant, NC, 28124.
