Donald Waldo Shinn

Donald Waldo Shinn, 89, of Concord passed away August 3, 2024 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. 

Funeral services will be held 11am, August 6 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Allen Lefler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The Shinn Family will receive friends from 7-9pm Monday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. 

Donald was born in Cabarrus County, June 10, 1935 to the late Waldo Fink and Connie Pressley Shinn. He served his Country for over 20 years in the US Navy. He was an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon for many years. After retiring from the military, he was the owner operator of Shinn’s Refrigeration. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Stancil Shinn and brothers Edward Shinn and Jerry Shinn. 

He is survived by his daughters Sherree Grimstead of Mooresville and Lori Williams and husband Tommy of Lake Butler FL; grandchildren Ashley, Caleb and Clint; great grandchildren Levi, Will, Grace and Abigail; brothers Mike Shinn, Wayne Shinn and Malcolm Shinn; sisters Reba Bryan, Sylvia Stancil, Darlene Bilderback and Terra Moon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
