Mr. Cyrus D. Holdeen went home to be with the Lord, September 28, 2012 at the W. G. Hefner Medical Center, Salisbury.
He was born August 12, 1938 in Litchfield, CT son of the late Jonathan Holdeen and Stella Hamblen Holden. He served in the US Marines Corp from 1958-1962 and two years in the reserve. He was a Master Mason serving in all chairs in Amenia, NY, also serving in the Shriners, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite and the American Legion all of NY. Currently was a member of the Stokes Lodge #32 of Concord. He served as vice president of CSEA for many years. He loved working with the youth of his community. He was a Boy Scout at heart, loving the outdoors and working with the Boy Scouts. He joined the BSA when his oldest son, David became old enough to join the cubs, continuing when his other two sons Jonathan and William joined, He took them with other boys and adults to Philmont, NM, Scout Ranch. He continued on receiving Woodbadge Beads and serving as Scout Master for 8 years and a total of 25 year with the BSA. He belonged to a Masonic Family Camping Club and enjoyed going to different states all over the US, he was elected a trustee for that organization for almost 8 years serving two terms. He was a member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginny) Holdeen, four children, Theresa Holdeen of Crawfordville FL, David Holdeen and wife Ruthanne of Mt. Pleasant, Jonathan Holdeen of Bristol, FL, William Holdeen of St. Augustine, FL, grandchildren, Nicholas, James, Kaitlyn, William and Howard Holdeen of Mt. Pleasant, Breeanne Reid, Jessica H. Heichel, Tabitha Holdeen, Christopher Holdeen, great grandchildren, Cadence and Bella Heichel, sister, Pamala Holden of NY. And numerous nieces and nephews throughout the US.
Memorial service will 2:00pm Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Cold Springs United Methodist Church, 2550 Cold Spring Rd., Concord, officiated by Rev. Tony Bell.
