Clifford Eugene Gardner

Clifford Eugene Gardner, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Mt. Pleasant House following a period of declining health due to Lewy body dementia.

His life will be celebrated beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 15, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Jenkins of The Gathering in Albemarle officiating. The Gardner family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

A Mecklenburg County native, Clifford was born October 10, 1945, to Richard Eugene Gardner and Dora Aileene Ritch Gardner. Clifford was retired from a successful career in real estate. He lived many years on Lake Norman and spent his summers at Cherry Grove Beach. Both of those near-water locations were special places to him, where many good times were shared with family and friends.

Survivors left to share memories are two sons, Johnny Gardner (Sandra) and Patrick Allen Gardner; a daughter, Paula Dennis (Todd); three grandchildren, Clinton Gardner, Casey Covington (Thomas) and Alison Howie; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Covington, Emery Covington and Thorne Covington; a sister, Dora Jean Boger (Ronnie); and special friends, Wanda and Randy Buchanan of Denver, NC.

The Gardner family extends special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Cabarrus County, the staff of Mt. Pleasant House and Bonnie Culp for their compassionate care of Clifford and the family during his last days. All of you made the hard journey bearable.
