Clay G. Barrier

Clay Gillon Barrier, 39, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Friday, May 6, 2022.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 6pm at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Lynn Upchurch. The Barrier family will receive friends beginning at 4pm prior to the service.

Clay was born May 31, 1982 in Cabarrus County.  He was a 2000 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and worked in the family logging business and always helping his family with the farm.  Clay was a talented mason and woodcrafter.  He was meticulous in the upkeep of his equipment and also maintained his cars in detailed condition.  His love of sports began at an early age as he participated in football and baseball.  He continued to love sports as a fan of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, NC State, and knowing specific statistics about sports of all kinds.  Clay was a good-hearted person and kind to all that he met no matter their circumstances.  He loved his family and enjoyed the home cooked meals they shared.

Clay is survived by his father, Daniel G. Barrier (Becky Scott)  and his mother Debra Barrier Staton (Michael).  Also surviving are three brothers; Landon Barrier (Shannon), Shaun Barrier (Logan ), and Blake Barrier (Jacquelyn); nephews; Levi (Tia), Wyatt, Gage, Stone, George, Lipe, Lawson and one niece; Brooklyn.
