Claudia Virginia Barringer Glover, Age 101, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis.
Funeral service will be 3:00pm Thursday at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity officated by Rev. Vincent Iocona, Jr., burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord.
The Barringer family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30pm Thursday at Gordon Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at the church.
She was the sixth of nine children born to William "Willie" Adolphus and Grace Myrtle Thomason Barringer in Cabarrus County on April 13, 1912. She is survived by one Sister, Janie Lee Barringer Straughn of Wilmington and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
She married her Husband, Bruce Ranklin Glover on December 26, 1953 in Cabarrus County. They owned and operated Glover's Slaw and Salad's and The Frying Pan Restaurant during the 50's and 60's on South Union Street in Concord. Mr Glover deceased on Feb 1, 1984. Claudia was a dedicated caretaker for many in her family. She enjoyed caring for them as well as cooking her families favorite dishes, gardening and working in her flowers, which she referred to as her 'blossoms'. She was very kind natured and always soft spoken. She will be truly missed by her family.
She was preceeded in death by her siblings, Margie DeLette Barringer Goodman, Emmett Thomason Barringer, Margaret Kathryn Barringer Foil, Emma Grace Barringer, Hilbert William Barringer, Leonard Franklin Barringer and Alice Imogene Barringer.
Claudia was a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Concord where she served on many committees and was honored for her service. Her current Church membership is at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, her families home Church, where she was baptized as an infant and was married in 1953. The family request that memorials be directed to The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, PO Box 595, Mt Pleasant, NC 28124 and designated for the 'Outdoor Shelter'.
