Charles Smithka

Charles "Chuck" Stephen Smithka, 64, of Lentz Harness Shop Rd., Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, October 26 at his residence. Memorial service will be 4:00pm Wednesday at Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ; officiated by Pastor Terri Barringer and Rev. Bobby Bonds. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 prior to the memorial service. Mr. Smithka was born February 16, 1949 in Utica, NY son of the late Bernard and Jean Edson Smithka. He was a former truck driver and had worked for Wiley-Hughes Aircarft in California. He was well known for being the candyman, he loved to share candy with co-workers and children. He is survived by his wife Lesa Hurlocker Smithka, daughters, Janie Smithka, Roxanne Smithka, Nikki Prieto and Julie Ann Dempsy, sister, Paula Smithka and husband Mike Fitzgerald, step son Shane Anthony Caudill and eleven grandchildren.
