Cecil Lawrence Collins

Cecil Lawrence Collins, 91, of Concord died Monday, December 2, 2019 at Universal Health Care in Concord.

A graveside service will be held 3pm Saturday December 7 at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mt. Dora, FL.  The Collins family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday December 4 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Cecil was born December 5, 1927, in Candler County, Georgia to the late W.A. and Essie Collins.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Birdie Mae Collins and daughter, Linda Collins Nix.  He lived in Mt. Dora, Florida prior to moving to Concord to be closer to family.

He is survived by granddaughters, LeAnne (Shawn) Arledge, Chesapeake, VA; Jennifer Lumley, Concord; Sara (Jason) Burgin, Raleigh and grandson, Stephen (Caroline) Nix, Charlotte; great grandchildren:  Erin and Lauren Arledge; Cole, Taylor, Bryce and Hannah Lumley; Jenna, Ethan, Drew and Gavin Burgin; son in law William “Bill” Nix and wife Jayne.

Cecil was a member of Glorieta Baptist Church in Concord where he would volunteer to pick up food donations for CCM.  He was a truck driver for Mt. Dora Citrus Cooperative.  Cecil loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed spending free time fishing both salt water and fresh water.
