Caroline Luzelle Mabe Moore, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at home after a brief illness.
A celebration of Caroline’s life will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Ave. NW, Concord, with the Rev. Bo Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in Concord’s Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
A Forsyth County native, Caroline was born Nov. 2, 1947, to James Elmer Mabe, Sr., and Nancy Ellen Landreth Mabe. Caroline married Thomas R. “Pete” Moore on May 30, 1970, and they made their home in Greensboro until his death on Sept. 5, 1998. Caroline then moved to Cabarrus County to live with her mother.
A member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Caroline made many dear friends there and loved her church family. She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, pictures and birds.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Ann Moore of Madison, NC; a son, Tommy Moore of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Ashley and Thomas Tosh; two sisters, Bernice Mabe Hull of Thomasville, and Zeba H. Barringer (David) of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, J. Elmer Mabe, Jr., of Kernersville, and Charles R. “Chuck” Harris (Marie) of Concord; many nieces and nephews including, Dr. Jennifer Harris of Thomasville, and three nephews, Greg Harris (Rebecca) of Thomasville, and Miles Barringer and Leonard Barringer of Mt. Pleasant; and aunts and uncles, Mozelle Mabe(Lonzie), Helen Scott, and Wallace Landreth(Marty).
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brent Kelly and his staff for their compassionate care of Caroline through the years, and to her church family at Parkwood Baptist, especially Betty Hughey and Bo and Glenda Sherrill.
