Bruce McKinley Jamerson, 90, of Gold Hill, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Carolinas HealthCare System-Main following a brief illness.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Gold Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Beverly Maulden will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Jamerson family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the church.
Bruce was born in Buncombe County on Oct. 29, 1927, to Lloyd M. Jamerson and Naomi Taylor Jamerson. He served his country as a United States Marine in World War II. Bruce had a life-long love of horticulture and was retired from McAllister Greenhouses. In addition to all things plants and animals, especially horses, he enjoyed playing softball, and coaching Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. He was preceded in death by a son Robert Bruce Jamerson, Sr.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Eaddy Jamerson of the home; a son, Rory Jamerson, and wife, Cindy, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Robert Bruce Jamerson, Jr. (Amber), Kevin Jamerson, Kerry Jamerson, Tiffany Jarzyniecki (Andy) and Renee Jamerson (Stevie Lewis); and two great-grandchildren, Gaetano and Zachery.
