Bobby Gene Poplin, 78 of Hwy 73 Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Thursday, March 22, 2012.
Funeral service will be 3:00pm Sunday at Gordon Funeral Home; burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The Poplin family will receive friends from 4-6pm Saturday at Gordon Funeral Home.
Mr. Poplin was born February 13, 1934 in Stanly County son of the late Cleo Poplin Wilhoit and step father Henry Wilhoit. He was also preceded in death by a brother Reed Poplin. Mr. Poplin was educated in Stanly County Schools, graduated Nashville Auctioneer School and became an auctioneer. In his earlier years he worked in hosiery mills, Western Auto, MacVictor, Robert Shinn Conctruction, and later retired from the City of Concord.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Amelia Hahn Poplin, daughters, Lisa Layton and Rhonda Poplin, grand children, Ashley and Timothy Layton and Tiffany Grimes, great granddaughter, Emma Pearl Layton, and his two dogs, Sandy and Angel.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carol , Natile, Brenda, Wanda, Chrissy and Myrtle for their special care during Mr. Poplin's declining health.
