Mrs. Kluttz, age 83 of Concord, died on Friday, May 23, 2014.
She was born on February 18, 1931 in the St John's community of Cabarrus County; Betty was the daughter of Martin V and Nora M Sikes. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church serving as Cherub Choir Director, Luther League advisor, a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class and accompanist for the first Youth Choir.
Betty started in the insurance industry with Shuford Insurance in downtown Concord as a service representative and then moved to United Cabarrus Insurance as an insurance agent in 1980. She was an accomplished organist serving churches throughout the Concord area for many years. Betty was involved in numerous civic and service organizations including the Boger Home Extension Club, Stonecroft Ministries, Cabarrus County Home Builders Association and the Cabarrus County ARC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of over 60 years- Hugh L Kluttz and her brother Lee F. Sikes.
Betty is survived by her son Hugh L. Kluttz Jr, and wife Susan of Matthews, NC, daughter Ann E Kluttz and husband Michael Parker of Concord, son Alan L Kluttz of Virginia Beach VA, and Terry T Kluttz of Wilson NC. Grandchildren are Anna Kluttz, Lee Kluttz, Amy K Daniel and husband Joe, and Davis A. Kluttz. Great-grandchildren are Madison and Noah Daniel. Her surviving sisters are Martha Brawley, Evelyn Russ and Margie Waddell plus many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14 at St John's Lutheran Church, 100 St John's Church Rd, Concord NC at 2:30 pm officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests after the graveside service on the church grounds.
