Betty Neal Thomas Honeycutt, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, after a period of declining health.
A celebration of Betty’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Bruce Gwyn, minister of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
An Anson County native, Betty was born on April 12, 1933, to Robert Lee Thomas and Eula Annie Curlee Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Thomas; and a sister, Annie Lee Hunter.
Betty enjoyed a variety of careers including a teller at the former Piedmont Bank and Trust Co., a clerk at Moose Drug Co. and an administrative assistant for the Town of Mt. Pleasant. Her most joyful occupations, however, were that of homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William Reid Honeycutt of Mt. Pleasant; a son, William Reid “Bill” Honeycutt III (Jewel) of Arizona; two daughters, Diane Johnston (Bruce) of Huntersville, and Linda Aube (Earle) of Concord; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Earle, Anna, Reid, step grandchildren Stephanie and Adam.
