Ben Rice

Mr. Ben Allen Rice, 87, of Mt. Pleasant Rd., died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Universal Health Care. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Tuesday, May 8, at Gordon Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Faye McRorie, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The Rice family will receive friends from 12-1pm prior the funeral service. Ben was born April 7, 1925 in Cabarrus County son of the late C.M. Rice and Cora Jane Burris Rice. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a retired fixer for several area hosiery mills. He was a member of American Legion Post 51, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to flea markets and auctions. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Biggers Rice and two infant children. He is survived by his children, Alan Rice and wife Donna of Mt. Pleasant and Wanda R. Brown and husband Mike of Concord, grandchildren, Adam and Garrett Brown, Chris Price, Jennifer Eudy and husband Matt, Callie Gentry and husband Darren and Jamie Raymer and husband Andrew and three great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks the staff of Care Bridge Assisted Living and Universal Health Care for their care during Mr. Rice's declining health.
